Using WeBWorK in the Classroom (90 minutes)

For instructors new to WeBWorK. Covers course setup, assigning problem sets, monitoring student progress, configuring scoring and due dates, and understanding the student experience. Participants leave ready to run their first WeBWorK course.

Audience: Faculty, adjuncts, TAs

WeBWorK Administration (90 minutes)

For the person responsible for creating and archiving courses, managing user accounts, and coordinating across departments. Covers the admin course, course templates, bulk operations, and LMS integration settings.

Audience: Department coordinators, LMS administrators

Introduction to Problem Authoring (90 minutes)

Write your first WeBWorK problem from scratch. Covers the PG problem language, basic MathObjects (Real, Formula, String), PGML formatting, and the answer evaluation pipeline. No programming experience required.

Audience: Faculty who want to customize or create problems

Advanced Problem Authoring (90 minutes)

For authors who have written basic problems and want more power. Covers multi-part problems, custom answer checkers, scaffolded problems, adaptive parameters, graph and table generation, and randomization strategies.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Problem Authoring or equivalent experience

Audience: Faculty, problem authors

Building Model Courses (90 minutes)

Create a reusable course template that other instructors can clone semester after semester. Covers course structure, curating problem sets from the Open Problem Library, setting consistent policies, and documentation for future instructors.

Audience: Course coordinators, department chairs

Preparing for High-Volume Assessments (90 minutes)

Run timed midterms and finals through WeBWorK without crashing the server. Covers test bank construction, gateway quizzes, proctoring settings, and how to coordinate with Rationarium on server capacity during peak assessment windows.

Audience: Faculty running large-enrollment courses, coordinators

Advanced Features in WeBWorK (90 minutes)

A tour of features most instructors don’t know exist: conditional release, reduced scoring periods, email notifications, achievement badges, set-level problem randomization, and the job queue for background tasks.

Audience: Experienced WeBWorK instructors

Customized Scripting for Large Institutions (90 minutes)

For institutions running 50+ courses per semester. Covers bulk course creation, scripted roster management, automated problem-set deployment, and integration with institutional data pipelines.

Audience: IT staff, department administrators at large institutions

Two workshops are included with every Rationarium hosting plan at no additional cost. Additional sessions are available and can be scheduled at your convenience.
